BAGUIO CITY, Philippines—-A magnitude 5 earthquake rocked Baguio and nearby areas on Friday, a day after three mild tremors hit the Philippines’ summer capital, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The earthquake, felt at Intensity 4 in this city, struck at 6:20 a.m. Its epicenter was located 9 kilometers northwest of La Trinidad, Benguet, Phivolcs bulletin said.

Reports from the city government said there were no immediate reports of people injured or buildings and structures damaged by the quake. However, some residents were roused from sleep when the earthquake struck.

The tremor was also felt in San Fernando City in La Union at Intensity 3 and in Burgos, Ilocos Sur at Intensity 2.

On Thursday, three earthquakes struck the summer capital and neighboring towns.

A magnitude 3.3 quake jolted the city at 11:54 a.m. It was felt at Intensity 2 and its epicenter was traced 8 kilometers northwest of La Trinidad.

The quake was followed in the afternoon by two successive earthquakes—with magnitudes of 3.1 and 3— with the epicenters located 7 kilometers and 13 kilometers northeast of Baguio, respectively.

Both quakes struck at 2:25 p.m. No injuries or property damage were reported.
