(AP) -- Mild weather settled over much of the nation early Monday, although rain clouds lingered over the Great Lakes and thunderstorms swept through Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana.
In the Northeast, afternoon showers were possible from Lake Erie to northern New York and in northern Maine. Skies were forecast to be generally sunny from New England through the mid-Atlantic states.
High pressure was to keep hot dry air and gusty winds over Southern California, keeping the fire danger high. Temperatures were to be in the 80s, while it could rise into the 90s for the Southwest. Watch rainy Texas, mild East and sunny in West
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states on Sunday ranged from a low of 10 degrees at Newberry, Michigan, to a high of 97 degrees at Fullerton, California.
