(AP) -- A stationary front produced thunderstorms Monday across the South. Storms also formed in the Southwest, with severe thunderstorm warnings in eastern Arizona.
Storms were reported across South Carolina, Mississippi and the Florida Panhandle.
The storms in the Southwest were aided by monsoon winds that streamed moist air into the region.
Clear to partly cloudy skies spread across much of the rest of the nation. An exception was the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which saw several strong storms.
Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a morning low of 30 degrees in West Yellowstone, Montana, to a midday high of 111 in Needles, California.
