Strongest storm for four years hits Philippines

Strongest storm for four years hits Phillipines.

Super Typhoon Megi made landfall across Luzon, northern Philippines on Monday morning bringing heavy rain and winds of 160mph (257km/h) with gusts around 200mph (322km/h).

Although winds have since weekened, the category five storm was the most powerful to hit the Philippines for at least four years.

Megi is forecast to move into the South China Sea where it will re-intensify over the warm waters before making landfall across southern China between Hainan Island and Hong Kong.
