Mumbai wall collapse kills eight
Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rains
At least eight people were killed when a wall collapsed on them during heavy rains in the western Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay).
Five people were rescued from the debris in Thane and are being treated in a local hospital.
The wall - separating a slum and a residential building - collapsed early on Wednesday, police said. Most of the victims died in their sleep.
Mumbai and its suburbs have been experiencing heavy rains since Tuesday.
Thousands of buildings in Mumbai, mostly in the south of the city, are in need of repairs and are risky to live in during heavy rains.
But disagreements between owners, tenants and the municipal authorities mean that reconstruction and repairs are often delayed.
