High winds hit Northern Ireland electricity supply
NIE has said there are now about 8,000 customers across Northern Ireland without power after the network was damaged by high winds.
NIE's Les Drew said engineers would be repairing lines throughout the evening.
"The high winds have brought down branches from trees and these have interfered with lines in a number of areas across the province," he said.
Mr Drew said among the areas affected were Ballyclare, Ballymena and parts of Fermanagh.
He said engineers were working as quickly as possible to get supplies restored to customers.
