(CNN) -- Officials evacuated more than 4,200 people in eastern China when levees broke during torrential rains, state media reported.
The evacuations occurred in Anhui province Sunday after rising floodwaters breached levees along the Bainian River, which flows across the cities of Anqing and Tongcheng, the state-run Xinhua news agency said.
No casualties have been reported, Xinhua said, and those evacuated have been transported to safe areas.
Nearly 15 million people in 10 provinces and regions along China's longest river, the Yangtze, have had their lives disrupted after heavy rains began July 8, according to a statement from the Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief, Xinhua reported.
