Cameras to monitor River Severn flooding in Shrewsbury
CCTV cameras are to be used to help manage potential flooding along the banks of the River Severn.
The county council has made its five CCTV cameras by the river in Shrewsbury available to the Environment Agency.
An agency spokesman said it would help staff to monitor rising river levels, ensure timely warnings and make sure flood barriers were deployed in time.
The agency said it wanted to develop similar projects with other councils in the country.
Shrewsbury has suffered from flooding several times over the years.
