Monsoons kills 19 in southern India

NEW DELHI, India (CNN) — Twelve hours of heavy rain collapsed thousands of homes in Hyderabad, the capital of India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh, killing at least 19 people Saturday, a state official said.
Another 24 hours of rain is predicted, raising concerns about more loss of life, said Relief Commissioner Ratna Prabha. She said more than 3,500 homes were heavily damaged.
Hyderabad is the hub of India’s thriving information technology sector.
