Tropical storms Ana and bill..

Tropical Storms Ana and Bill

Tropical Storm Ana closely being followed by a strengthening Tropical Storm Bill

The National Hurricane Center has issued advisories for the first two named storms of the Atlantic Season.

Tropical storm Bill will follow a similar path to Tropical Storm Ana, which is tracking in a westerly direction and packing winds of 40 mph (64 km/h).

Storm watches remain in place in the Leeward Islands, where Ana is predicted to make landfall on Monday, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.

New warnings have been issued in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic where the storm is expected to strike early on Tuesday.

The 2009 hurricane season has been slow to start but an early lull in activity may not necessarily mean a weak overall season.

While Ana is now not expected to intensify further, forecasters predict that Tropical Storm Bill will strengthen to become the first Atlantic hurricane of 2009.
