Clean up after river floods homes
Householders in Newtownstewart, County Tyrone, are continuing to clear up after their homes were damaged by flooding on Sunday.
Heavy rain caused a small river to burst its banks and a number of houses in Mill Street were flooded.
Resident Wendy McKelvey said: "We didn't time to get sandbags, we just had to make a run for it. It was scary, the water was just coming and coming."
"You don't even know where to start to clean it, it's so dirty and mucky."
Mary McCullagh who also lives in Mill Street said: "Around about 12 o'clock it started to rain and at a quarter past my house was full of water.
"Nothing would have kept it back. It was four inches up the wall.
"Everything in the garage is destroyed, everything in my sitting room, living room and kitchen has to go."
Two cars were also stuck in the middle of the road and Rivers Agency teams worked to clear the area.
Strabane District Council hosted an inter-agency planning meeting on Monday morning about the flooding.
Council officers in Newtownstewart are assessing homes and giving advice on clean up and disinfection.
The council is also hosting a one stop shop in the Newtownstewart 2000 centre from 1300 BST on Monday where residents can get further information.
People are advised not to throw anything out until it is seen by the loss adjusters.
