Flooding brought misery and joy
Torrential rain and lightning strikes have caused problems in a number of areas of Cornwall.
Bolts of lightning hit various buildings in the county and resulted in phones lines being knocked out at Poltair School in St Austell.
More than 200 homes were left without power in the Illogan area of the county after another lightning strike.
Sainsbury's in Truro was also forced to close after a strike knocked out the supermarket's tills.
Flooding was reported in Morlaix Avenue and Arch Hill in Truro and torrential rainfall also led to four patients in a ward at the Royal Cornwall Hospital being moved to another ward after a roof leaked.
The flat-roofed part of an isolation ward at the hospital is thought to have contracted in the heat on Wednesday, exposing a crack.
Heavy rain on Wednesday night soaked into several ceiling tiles, causing some to fall out.
