Strong storms forecast in Texas, Arkansas

(AP) -- Forecasters predicted severe thunderstorms from central Texas to the Mississippi Delta, and more snow and rain in the Northeast on Friday. Clear skies were expected in much of the West.

Thunderstorms with hail, high wind and possible tornadoes were expected from around Waco, Texas, into parts of Louisiana and Arkansas.

In the Northeast, snow and rain were expected, with potentially heavy snow in parts of New England.

In the West, pleasant weather was expected in most of the region.

But in the Northwest, a Pacific storm was expected to push into Puget Sound, bringing cloudy skies and rain to parts.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Thursday ranged from a low of 3 degrees at Yellowstone, Wyoming, to a high of 89 degrees at Death Valley, California.
