Weather warning issued for snow and rain
Wintry weather returns to the British Isles
A severe weather warning for heavy rain and snow has been issued for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Up to 30cm of snow is expected to accumulate over the hills on Tuesday.
The worst of the weather is expected during the rush hour on Tuesday morning, bringing the potential for travel disruption.
Heavy rain could exacerbate flooding and strong winds are also expected, with gusts of up to 45mph (39 knots) in the worst affected areas.
Temperatures are expected to drop considerably as cold air pushes down from the north.
From Wednesday, the cold air is expected to move further south, pushing the warm air away and bringing more snow to the British Isles.
