Emergency weather warnings for snow and rain
AdvertisementEmergency warnings issued for Scotland and Northern Ireland
An emergency warning for heavy rain and snow has been issued for parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Up to 40cm of snow is expected to accumulate over the hills on Tuesday.
Parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland have already suffered travel disruption with more snow and rain expected.
Strong winds are also expected, with gusts of up to 82mph (71 knots) in the worst affected areas. This will cause blizzards and drifting.
Temperatures are expected to drop considerably as cold air pushes down from the north.
From Wednesday, the cold air is expected to move further south, pushing the warm air away and bringing more snow to the British Isles.
