Snow hits desert areas of Arizona and New Mexico

National Weather Center forecasters are predicting a moderate winter storm to develop in the USA over the coming weekend.
Over the past few weeks, cold air has plunged down from Canada and extended south across the Midwest and even the Southern states. Last week there were rare reports of accumulations of snow in the desert areas of Arizona and New Mexico.
Snow has again been falling in New Mexico recently. With an area of low pressure forming near Florida, heavy snow has been forecast to fall across a wider area.
The storm is expected to produce accumulating snow from Texas to the southern Appalachians during Friday and Friday night. Parts of the Northeast, in particular southern New England, may see heavy snowfall during the weekend.
