Family escapes lightning strike
Bricks and roof slates were scattered across the street
A family escaped injury when their roof collapsed following a lightning strike on a Teesside street.
Donna Dixon, her partner and her young son fled their home in Stockton as their chimney stack came crashing down during a storm on Monday afternoon.
They were taken to hospital as a precaution and have since been moved to temporary accommodation.
Other neighbouring properties on Sussex Walk also suffered structural damage in the lightning strike.
Bricks falling
Neighbour Kelly Davidson said: "I heard a big bang and I went deaf and blank for a moment.
"When I came round my phone had blown up and there was bricks falling in front of me and just missing my baby.
"We ran out and I thought the building was falling down, I was petrified."
Dave Pickard, housing management director of Tristar Homes, said structural engineers were examining the properties.
He said: "We are thankful nobody was hurt. It must have been traumatic for Miss Dixon and her family to have been in the property at the time.
"There has been substantial structural damage but the property is repairable."
