Another quake jolts holy city of Qom in Iran
Tehran, June 20, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale hit the holy city of Qom and its vicinity in the central province of Qom Wednesday morning.

According to the seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake was registered at 05:08 hours local time (0138 GMT).

The epicenter of the quake was in an area measuring 50.87 degrees in longitude and 34.5 degrees in latitude, the report added.

There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property caused by the quake.

An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted Kahak district in Qom province at 18:33 hours local time (1503 GMT) on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Kahak was struck by a 5.9 magnitude earthquake at 17:59 hours local time (1429 GMT) on Monday.

The epicenter of the quake was in an area measuring 50.85 degrees in longitude and 34.48 degrees in latitude.

The Monday quake was felt in Tehran province and its adjacent provinces.

Qom has been jolted by more than 100 aftershocks during the past two days.

Iran is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes as it sits on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
