Some roads are still underwater and more rain is on the way
Several roads are still closed following this weekend’s heavy downpours, and around 700 city area residents have reported flooding in their basements, cellars and sewage systems.
While most streets and motorways had been reopened as of Monday morning, a few are still plagued by drainage problems, including the Lyngbyvej motorway near Ryparken Station, Grøndals Parkvej road near Flintholm Station, and Lersø Parkallé way in the city’s Nørrebro district.
Over 100 vehicles were trapped in the floodwater over the weekend, according to emergency service company Falck.
According to data from the national weather service DMI, around 116mm of rain fell in the 24-hour period between Saturday and Sunday evening. However, the substantial amount was a long way below the 24-hour record of 169mm, which drenched the city in 1931.
Although today is expected to be dry, more rain is forecast for Tuesday.
