Possible tornado hits Brookhaven, Mississippi
Two homes completely destroyed, two other buildings damaged, sheriff says
One resident of a damaged home transported to hospital.
At least two mobile homes were destroyed by violent weather in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on Thursday.
Another home and business sustained heavy damage, Sheriff Steve Rushing told CNN.
Rushing said a resident of one of the homes was transported to the hospital with injuries. He said there was heavy damage to trees, and power lines were down.
Rushing said there was a report of a tornado in the area.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Covington County. It expired at 10:30 a.m. CT.
A tornado watch remained in effect until 4 p.m. CT for counties along the Gulf Coast and coastal waters in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. The weather service warned that severe thunderstorms with damaging winds were possible.
