Aarbeving Sumatra (bron malaysian news)

A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale occurred in South Sumatera, Indonesia at 10.46 Sunday night resulting in tremors being felt in several states in Malaysia.

According to a statement from the Meteorological Department, the quake was located 165km south-east of Siberut, Indonesia and 562km south-west of Melaka.

Following the quake, a weak tremor was felt in the coastal areas of Selangor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan dan west Johor.
